This Women's Month, support the KwaZulu-Natal Blind and Deaf Society at their 'Eye Can Walk' on 24 August.

As we enter a significant month honouring women from all walks of life, Carol Ofori will be chatting with a woman who has made history and is dedicated to community development.
Veetha Sewkuran, a community leader who values social development, has a background in education and finance and a BCom Law degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
Her career began teaching at the well-known VN Naik School for the Deaf. She later moved to the accounts division at the Aryan Benevolent Home.
In 2016, Sewkuran began her journey with the KwaZulu-Natal Blind and Deaf Society as a volunteer.
"Through her commitment and leadership, she was elected to the executive committee and then to the management committee. In 2019, she made history by becoming the first female President of the Society in its 83-year history, after serving as Chairperson of its Working Committee," said the organisation.
Sewkuran is a mother of two, Akshar and Ruhita and is married to Dr. Nikesh Sewkuran.
Established in 1936, the KZN Blind and Deaf Society's primary purpose is to provide services and opportunities that ultimately improve the quality of life for people who are blind or partially sighted. Their services were extended to the deaf and hard-of-hearing in the 1960s.
The KZN Blind and Deaf Society will host its 'Eye Can Walk' at the Suncoast lawns on 24 August.
Participants can enter the 10km run (from R180) or the 5km walk (R100). Tickets can be purchased from Web Tickets and include a T-shirt and medal upon completion.
