VIDEO: 20 Years of Democracy: The Cellphone!
Updated | By Rory Petzer
Let's go back a bit, shall we? The cellphone!
Remember the days when the barman (in the case of men!) or the shop assistant (in the case of women!) had to call out your name for a phone call in the office because your other half was furiously looking for you? And then came 1994: The cellphone arrived in South Africa. All of a sudden there was nowhere to hide!
Oh, were we not just the coolest? To walk around a shopping centre holding a branded, black brick with an aerial in your hand was quite the status symbol. Nevermind the fact most of us needed a roof rack fitted to our cars to transport them!
Let's reminisce. Damon and Rory take you back a bit.
