Till then keep well!

You have to be honest about it! If you haven’t seen or heard of the Oscar Pistorius trial up until now, then tell me off the secluded setting you hide away in. This week, the country and the world will know the fate of the super star paralympian. Whether he spends a substantial amount of time behind bars, given a fine or even getting off the hook completely, the judge can only decide. Everyone has their theory as to why he did it. Some suggest it was a fit of rage that got the better of Pistorius while others are of the opinion his story was plausible, that there was an intruder in his home. I’m saddened by the fact that an innocent life was taken that valentine’s night. She had the world for the taking and could have made such a name for herself yet it was not to be. Truly sad! I want to look at another bigger picture here however. The mere fact that a superstar was implicated in as a murder suspect is not important. What is important is the fact that so many South Africans have this fear that they may fall prey to gun wielding individuals who have no fear for the law. While I don’t know if Pistorius’s version of what happened that night will hold its ground, you get a sense that the law gives more leniency to the intruder. Would it be wrong to protect yourself and your family in self-defence? Thursday arrives sooner than anyone expected, till then keep well!
