Pedestrian cellphone lanes in China
Updated | By Rory Petzer

A great deal of emphasis is placed on driving while using a cellphone, but very little attention is paid to the dangers of walking while texting.
Just as a driver using a cellphone is a potential hazard on the road, so too is a pedestrian whose focus is solely on a cellphone in hand.
The city of Chongqing came up with an idea that seems a little ridiculous at first: separate lanes for pedestrians using cellphones.
The 100-foot stretch is marked with signage warning pedestrians to walk in the correct lane.
The Drive Team's first question is: If your head is buried in your cellphone, how are you able to ensure you don't walk outside of your lane and become a danger anyway?
What are your thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? Leave your comments right here or on our Facebook page.
Here is a video which highlights the dangers of walking while texting.
