After months and months (and months) of waiting, the day had finally arrived!

Man of steel!

Everything was set. I was excited and Darren was wearing his underwear over his trousers.

I finally got to see the film at the Suncoast pre-screening and to be honest I thought it was OK, average at best.

Now before all you die-hard fans decide to crucify me for having an opinion on the film, I just felt that I had my high expectations dashed by action scenes that seemed like they were something out of a Michael Bay wet dream (the massive city fight close to the end of the film seemed like something out of Transformers III).

Also, Superman seemed a little overly serious. It seemed like everything about his life was completely sad. In fact on the whole the only real laugh in the cinema arrived close to the end of the film when a female army officer in the film was stunned at how apparently good-looking superman was.

Was I expecting a comedy? No, but I was just a tad disappointed in the above mentioned things from the film. Other than that the film was OK.

But altogether, the Breakfast Stack fans and the atmosphere in the cinema was brilliant and made it a worthwhile experience.

No this is not a movie review but rather a brief opinion piece on the film; on the whole I thought it was ‘meh'.

Were you one of the 300 ECR listeners invited to the pre-release screening? What did you think of the film?

(Above are the two lucky East Coasters who will be winging their way to LA later this year to meet Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder. Suash Maharaj and Rosann Naidoo attended the pre-release screening last night. Both are super-excited to say the least! The man second from left in the photo is Suncoast Cinemas' Moosa Moosa and East Coast Radio's Darren Maule is next to him).
