Leather or nothing

Leather or nothing

When growing up, a young lad learns many things that define his transition from boy to man. These things, according to Good Guy Gabe, are somewhat constant in every family.

Some of us go to church every Sunday while others garden on a Saturday. These practices, whether good or unhealthy, are instilled in us from a young age.

Habits and values are usually passed on from our grandparents to our parents and then to us. We, in turn, need to responsibly pass them on to the next generation.

The one thing I’d definitely pass on to my kids one day is my appreciation of leather.  My father was the one who taught me the value of the durable and precious material.

When I was a teenager, he used to say, “A man must have at least one item of leather!” So, he bought me my first leather wallet when I was 14years old. I used that wallet for 10 years.

When it finally gave up on me, I made my first leather purchase and got myself a pair of formal shoes. I remember shoenatics saying, “Nothing beats a shoe with a genuine leather upper!”

Of course we can all agree that as the world of fashion evolves and reinvents itself, there are a few clothing items that will always remain iconic. The black leather jacket is one of them. For me, the leather jacket is the Clint Eastwood of the fashion world. Heroic, cool and classic.

Personally, there’s no other material that gives me a kick in the soul. However, my love for leather doesn’t stretch to the very chic leather pants. I’m no MC Hammer!

What I have fallen in love with is my brand new leather ‘man bag.’

If you want to test your love for leather, get yourself a ‘man bag’ dude. Believe me you won’t regret it.

And no my friend, owning leather car seats doesn't count. We’re not in a Clint Eastwood movie.
