Zinnbauer resigns as Pirates coach
Updated | By Newswatch
Josef Zinnbauer has tendered his resignation as Orlando Pirates coach just one game into the new season.
The German leaves the Soweto giants with a record of 35 wins, 20 draws and 13 losses in his 68 matches in charge.
The 51-year-old guided Pirates to third place last season, securing a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
But the Buccaneers lost 2-1 to Soweto rivals Swallows FC in the MTN8 quarter-final over the weekend.
Zinnbauer says his family is the main reason for leaving.
“I have spent the last two years away from my family and for this reason I have decided to hand in my resignation. I would like to wish the Club and its supporters all the best for the future.”
