VIDEO: King mackerel surprise
An angler chasing tarpon and kingfish gets a pleasant surprise.
The skipper warned that a different king could end up taking the bait.
Here the angler ends up with a king mackerel.
We tend to call them couta here in KwaZulu-Natal.
Amazing how those sharp teeth somehow failed to slice through the nylon.
These fish are fairly common off Durban in the summer months and I remember stories of couta caught on live shad off South Pier.
I wonder if the deep sea fishing competition between the Breakfast Stack and The Drive with Damon teams this weekend will produce king mackerel...
