Tiger fish action at Jozini
Updated | By Staff Writer

Bass - The action has not slowed down at all since our last good reports, if anything, more fish have been reported. This is a good sign of what is to come in the next few months as the waters only rise in temperature from this point on and fish become more active in the morning and evening in the shallows. It promises fishing to be enjoyed with the whole family at many dams around KZN. With smaller fish all in competition for food , too scared to venture into the deep in fear of the inevitable, the shallows come alive with smaller fish between 200g and 1kg. These are easy for minors to target and it is a great way to introduce a child to the world of bass angling.
Carp – Feedback from most of the dams has been pretty good with the fish being more active and moving into deeper water during the day. A helpful hint is that when fish are feeding and you’re getting more hook-ups, do not add more feed, rather target the fish in your swim and make the most of it.
Tiger – With the temperature rising very high on most days – this is a definite hot spot indeed. The shallower areas fished in the early morning have produced mostly juvenile fish, while deeper areas fished with trolled baits and sardine fillets are producing bigger fish. Most successful for the last week or so has been Tiger spoons or live baits - especially when fished deep or near the river entrance.
