The fun surfing event has been conceptualized by Quiksilver and Movember with the intention of bringing awareness to prostate and testicular cancer and various other men's health issues as well as to celebrate the seventies era that contributed immensely to the surf lifestyle.

The event is scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday the 16th of November at Beach Bums Restaurant on Kwa-Zulu Natal's north coast on Tongaat beach.

Surfers are encouraged to dress up in seventies surf outfits and ride surfboards relevant to the era. All surfboards ridden have to be pre 1980's single or twin fins.

Judging will not follow the regular criteria and entrants will be scored according to their style, originality, creativity and unique approach to each wave ridden.

R100 will get you competing with a first come first serve policy of 60 surfers.

All monies raised on the day will be donated to Movember's men's health partner, CANSA.

Durbanites can expect a high of 25 degrees today with partly cloudy weather this morning and a 60% chance of showers and thundershowers later. The best news is that after days on end of beasterly easterly winds, the winds have swung to SW’s peaking at 37km/hr.
