Stumpy caught in Umhlanga

Stumpy caught in Umhlanga

A local Umhlanga angler using Redeye cutlets and Chokka landed a beautiful Stumpy of just over 5 kgs.

Virginia saw a lot less action with the Snoek off the beach but the Beachwood area evening sessions have been more productive.

Anglers fishing off the Durban Piers have managed to get some better-sized Grunter and also a nice Pompano of just over 2 kgs.

Maasbunker and small Red fish have been stripping baits and the odd juvenile Skate has also been caught.

South Pier is still fishing very well with a good number of Stumpies and the odd big Grunter coming out. Please just remember that you do require the correct permit in order to fish off this pier.

It looks like Durbanites are in for another wet day with a 60% chance of rain showers this morning, otherwise thundershowers and rain showers this evening. Durban has a high of 24 degrees forecast with Southerly winds blowing. Surfers should try to take the gap to make the most of the light winds and leftover swell because we have beasterly easterlies on the way tomorrow.
