Angelo Mathews is out for 89 and Upul Tharanga 83.
Dale Steyn has been the most successful Proteas bowler.
Steyn has taken five for 50 in his 21 overs.
Morne Morkel has claimed two for 45 in 17 overs.
Imran Tahir and JP Duminy have a wicket each.
This is the first of two Tests.
