Pierre Spies needs surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2013 rugby season.
Spies has a torn bicep muscle.
Jean de Villiers appears certain to miss the Vodacom Super Rugby clash between the DHL Stormers and Toyota Cheetahs this weekend.
De Villiers is still battling with a sore sternum and is unlikely to feature at Newlands on Saturday night.
Jaco Peyper has been appointed referee for the Super Rugby action in Durban on Saturday.
That is when the Sharks will host the Blues at Growthpoint Kings Park.
Kickoff is at 14h50.
Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal have made a winning start at the Coca-Cola Under-13 Craven Week.
KZN secured a 33-5 victory over hosts, Limpopo, at Bela-Bela on Monday.
KZN will meet Boland in their second fixture later today.
