Sharks victory parade today

The Sharks will celebrate their 2013 Absa Currie Cup success with fans on the streets of Durban today.

The municipality together with the Premiers Office of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government will host a victory parade through the streets of the city to celebrate the great achievement of the Sharks rugby team.

In a spirit of nation building and civic pride the executive committee under the leadership of Mayor James Nxumalo has approved the hosting of the victory celebrations tomorrow.

DATE: Wednesday 30 October 2013

TIME: 09h00 – 13h00

The Sharks team together with the Currie Cup trophy will board a Rickshaw bus at the Growthpoint Kings Park at 9am.

The bus will then proceed to the city hall, a short breakfast will be served and a meet and greet with Mayor at the full council meeting will take place before the council meeting begins.

The mayor, the captain of the Sharks and chairperson of the Sharks will give short speeches at the ceremony.

A certificate of achievement will be presented to the Sharks captain by mayor James Nxumalo.

The Ricksha bus will arrive at City Hall at 09h30.

The procession will start outside the City Hall on Anton Lembede Road (Smith Street).

The procession will proceed along Anton Lembede Street and turn left into Russell Street.

The procession will then turn into Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street (West Street).

The procession will proceed to the beachfront and travel along O.R. Tambo Drive (Marine Parade) and turn left into Argyle Road at the Blue Waters Hotel.

The procession will then turn right into Masabalala Yengwa Street (MNR Avenue) and thereafter turn left into Jacko Jackson and return to the stadium.
