PHOTO: Durban harbour snoek
A female angler caught a large Natal snoek in Durban harbour over the past weekend.
Jade Cracknell caught her 8.5kg queen mackerel on Sunday.
She was fishing bottom with cracker shrimp and was on a boat.
Jade first thought that she had hooked into a skate.
This is her first gamefish and it certainly was caught in somewhat unusual circumstances.
I am more accustomed to hearing about this species being caught near the surface.
It took Jade about 8 minutes to land this beauty.
