Mixed start for SA at Ballito
Jordy Smith and Travis Logie have won their first round heats at the Mr Price Pro at Ballito.
David van Zyl, another Durban surfer, ended second in his opening heat and beat Sebastian Zietz in the process.
This means Van Zyl is through to the round of 48 at Willard Beach.
Umhlanga surfer, Beyrick de Vries, and compatriot, Michael February, were both eliminated in the opening round today.
Other SA surfers to fall at the first hurdle today were Brandon Jackson and Shane Sykes.
