LIV Golf coming to South Africa in 2026
Updated | By Nick Tatham
As the LIV Golf League continues its expansion, they have included
in their schedule a tournament in South Africa from 2026.

The three-day, shotgun start event, which has been very successful in Australia and in some other parts of the world, will expand to include the iconic Steyn City in Johannesburg in March next year.
There have been calls to bring LIV Golf to Africa and now South Africans will be able to see some of the world’s best golfers up close during the tournament.
“It’s unbelievable that it’s finally happening, we’ve been talking about it since 2023,” Stinger GC’s Louis Oosthuizen said to Michael Sherman in YouTube.
“It’s incredibly exciting that we’ve got to this point and we cannot wait to bring this field of players to South Africa.”
Looking at what the event will do for golf in South Africa, Oosthuizen believes that it will bring a different demographic to golf.
“What we’ve seen is that LIV Golf does draw a different crowd, a younger crowd. In general you are seeing a lot more non-golfers coming to enjoy the experience.
“We want to bring that so we can get more people involved in golf,” Ootshuizen added.
Open champion Oosthuizen represents Stinger GC with fellow South Africans Charl Schwartzel, Dean Burmeister and Brandon Grace.
