Le Clos shares silver with Phelps, Cseh
Updated | By Gareth Jenkinson
Chad le Clos claimed his second silver medal of the Rio Olympics in what was a bizarre and spectacular finale of the 100m butterfly final.

After the disappointment of finishing fourth in the 200m butterfly final, thereby relinquishing his 2012 Gold medal, Le Clos was openly unhappy with his performance.
The Durban swimmer had a chance to face Michael Phelps one last time in the 100m race and save some face after he had sized-up the American swimmer in the build-up to the 200m race.
But Le Clos and most sports
fans couldn’t have predicted the outcome of the 100m final. The South African,
Phelps and long-time rival Laszlo Cseh all finished the race in 51.14 seconds –
splitting second place three ways.
It’s not often that you see three Olympians wearing the same medal on the podium of an individual event.
The result may have been cathartic for Le Clos, who seemed to be perturbed with his shortcomings earlier in the week. Perhaps it would have patched up any hard feelings between Le Clos and Phelps.
Joseph Schooling trumped all three favourites to win the race and bag his own and Singapore’s first ever Olympic Gold medal.
