The KZN U18 side face the Golden Lions in their first clash of the U18 Provincial tournament at Paul Roos Gymnasium. Kickoff is at 13h30.

Head coach Rudi Dames believes his charges are well prepared to take on the Gauteng outfit.

"We've looked at video footage of them and we've prepared a certain way - it is a very good Lions side though. We're not going to stand back, we're going to work hard and will be looking to execute well," Dames told East Coast Radio Sportswave.

Hilton scrumhalf Matt Dahl captains the side and Dames rates the pivot highly.

"As coaches we identify the leader but I also make the boys vote for the captain and most of them wanted Matt to be captain - that's very important. He's done exceptionally well, he is a good leader and a great player. He had an extremely good game against the Cheetahs at the Bonderdag day so I think he's definitely somebody to look at in the future," Dames said.

The coach also expects a number of other players from Michaelhouse, Glenwood and Westville to play a big role.

"Obviously Matt Dahl will be instrumental and a guy like Bader Pretorius, the Michaelhouse flyhalf, has been good the whole year. We've got Nama Xaba, the vice-captain who is from Glenwood. He is a workhorse and what you see is what you get. I'm also looking forward to seeing our lock from Westville Sibalalo Qoma, we call him Fudge, he's got an extremely good work rate and he's a tough player. Hopefully those guys can fire for us," Dames said.

Monday's results:

Pumas 28 (15) - Border 32 (15)
