Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya has won the men's marathon at the Rio Olympics. Feyisa Lelisa of Ethiopia ended second, while Galen Rupp of the USA completed the top three.

The field included three South Africans and none of them managed to make an impression.

The Springboks are without both Julian Redelinghuys and Francois Hougaard for their Rugby Championship match in Argentina this coming Saturday.
Tighthead prop forward, Redelinghuys, has a hamstring injury and faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.
Hougaard continues to nurse a knee problem.
The Springbok touring squad includes Lourens Adriaanse, Malcolm Marx, Morne Steyn, Trevor Nyakane and Franco Mostert.
The Boks will face the Pumas in Salta on Saturday night in a match scheduled to start at 21h40 - South African time.
Cell C Sharks will also be in action this coming Saturday.
They will host the Blue Bulls in Currie Cup action in Durban.
Kickoff is at 18h10 in the evening.

Day three of the first cricket Test between South Africa and New Zealand has been abandoned without a ball being bowled.
This due to a wet outfield at Sahara Stadium Kingsmead in Durban.
New Zealand, replying to 263, are 15 for two in their first innings.
It is the first of two Tests.

Jordy Smith has won his opening heat at the Billabong Pro Tahiti.
Smith is currently seventh in the world championship standings.

Cristian Stuani scored both goals for Boro this afternoon.

Paddling news is that Hank McGregor and Lee Furby have won the Gara Dolphin Coast Challenge.
The race ended at Zinkwazi on the KZN north coast.
