Dawn: Sharks on the rise

Dawn: Sharks on the rise

At the media briefing on Thursday, both Tera and Brad were questioned on the Sharks history of losing at home to weak sides.

Yes, even though I was also annoyed at the question, they do have a history of doing that exactly! The boys were taking a lot of confidence into this encounter having won away.

I managed to have very relaxing chat with my darling Captain Tera and I am so very proud of his composure, not only on the field, but also to the media.

It was a lovely, early 14h00 kick-off and I went along to the match with the entire family,(aka Dunn tribe), including the kids. A very big thank you to Nikki, Juiced Media,  for her wonderful, warm hospitality on a very cold spring day.

The boys kicked off with a bang with prop Lourens going over for the first try 8 mins in. This was followed very efficiently by tries scored by winger Mvovo, center Andre (set-up by Mvovo)and flyhalf Cronje! All this was done with clinical precision in ½ an hour! The bonus point was wrapped up and the score was 31-3 after 36mins. Mvovo was just outstanding. Cronje, SP Marais, Jordaan, Andre, Lourens and Dale also had great games.

The boys unfortunately seemed to fall asleep as the Kings were able to score 3 very easy tries and I know that ex-Shark’s player, Tim Whitehead, had a laugh, as he jogged over to reduce the deficit drastically. Cronje kicked over a few penalties and Paul Jordaan went over twice to ensure that we maintained the lead. Lock Lewies came on a replacement and also went over the whitewash, to make it a whitewash! A total of 7 tries were scored in total and that is just outstanding!

Boys need to be careful of handling errors and we could have been a lot better defensively. #Justsaying

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. The boys dominated and ran the Kings ragged. The Sharks are starting to play for each other and are taking pride in their efforts. It was a wonderful display of running rugby by both sides and the entire stadium was on its feet. It was also lovely to meet so many rugby fans that love the game and I enjoy that, as much as the activities on the field.

All in all, I am so very proud of the boys in getting the job done perfectly. This incredible journey from good to great continues, onwards and upwards darling Sharks!
