Controversial: No Bok contract for Lambie

Controversial: No Bok contract for Lambie

Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer has opted not to offer Sharks flyhalf Pat Lambie a contract, while offering ten lucrative deals to other Boks.

Five of the ten players offered new deals came from the Sharks.

Bismarck du Plessis, Jannie du Plessis, Willem Alberts, Francois Steyn and Tendai Mtawarira were contracted.

Alot has been said since the new contracts were released yesterday, I personally feel Lambie definitely deserves a contract for the way he has performed for the Sharks, both in Super Rugby and in the Absa Currie Cup.

The renewal of Frans Steyn's contract probably was the biggest shock on my behalf, especially given the lack of game time he has had of late due to injury.

This does raise the question of whether players are selected purely on merit? but that's a story for another day.

With all that said and done, Meyer has made his decision and he is sticking to it. As to what happens now with the future of one of the most talented number ten's in the country that waits to be seen.

The Springboks will take on Scotland in their latest northern hemisphere outing.

The match will kickoff at 5pm on Sunday at Murrayfield.

On Saturday a host of international fixtures will take place in Europe:

Italy  vs Fiji

Wales  vs Argentina

England  vs New Zealand

France vs Tonga
