It was a tough day out on the road for the 14 000 runners, with just over 10 000 crossing the line before the cut-off time of 5.30pm. Blazing heat and a hot, dry wind at certain points along the route made for difficult running conditions.
East Coast Radio broadcast from the finish line, where thousands of people gathered to cheer the exhausted athletes through the final lap around the Cricket Oval in Pietermaritzburg.
