City and United both lose

Manchester City and Manchester United both suffered defeats on Sunday.

City lost on the pitch, while United were beaten in the transfer market.

Supersport United beat City 2-0 in Pretoria last night. Kermit Erasmus and Mame Niang scored for the hosts at Loftus.

The second match of the Nelson Mandela Football Invitational will take place in Durban on Thursday. That is when City will meet Amazulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Bayern Munich have signed Thiago Alcantara.

He joins Bayern from Barcelona. Alcantara also attracted interest from Manchester United.

Bayern will pay Barcelona 25-million euros for the 22-year-old.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana will meet Zambia in the Cosafa Cup semi-finals.

Zambia defeated Mozambique 3-1 in their quarter-final yesterday. Zambia will host Bafana on Wednesday night.

The other semi-final will see Zimbabwe up against Lesotho.
