South Africa under the guidance of Hugo Broos for the first time drew with Zimbabwe on Friday afternoon in Harare in their group opener and the coach believes that there are elements from that game they will need to enhance on Monday.

“I know that we have a lot of work to do but I did see an improvement on Friday,” Broos said.

“What I saw on Friday satisfied me and I wanted a win, but I was happy with a draw. We play against the best team in the group (on Monday) and they have big players.

“I’ve seen several videos of Ghana and it’s going to be a tough game, but we will have our chances and it’s up to us to take them and if we do take them, we can cause them problems.

“The players have to be confident, and I hope we can put in some good attacks and have some good defensive organisation because we will need it.”

The Bafana Bafana coaching team haven’t been with the side for very long and Broos hopes that he can get the best out of the side with time.

“The boys will get better and better but we will need some time to improve but I am confident that if we continue to work hard like this we will get there.

“We are trying to build a young team so I need to see how good the young players are.

“They can play well in the league but it’s a level higher at international level and it’s tougher so tomorrow will give me a chance to see if those players are ready or not.”

The head-to-head between the sides sees both Bafana and Ghana winning four matches while there have been six draws. In recent times, Ghana won their AFCON qualifier in 2019 while their most recent match was a 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium in March.
