Big tennis at Kearsney College
Updated | By Staff Writer

Current top seeded schools in the country will be participating, including Paul Roos (Stellenbosch), Affies and Pretoria Boys (Pretoria), Grey College (Bloemfontein), St Stithians (Gauteng), as well as KZN’s leading tennis schools Glenwood, Clifton and Kearsney College.
Kearsney will be represented by Keegan Foss (captain), Dale Sandy, Brad Porteous, Matttew Bentley, Ben Patton, Brendan Bosman and Mihir Singh.
Tournament organiser, Anthony Willows, said whilst the festival was based at Kearsney, courts at Highbury and St Mary’s would also be used for some of the matches.
The finals will take place at Kearsney’s courts on Sunday (25th) from 07h45.
The event has become a highlight on the national schools tennis calendar and an incredibly high standard of tennis is always evident throughout the tournament.
Play will be particularly exciting this year, after St Stithians won the Paul Roos tournament in Stellenbosch during February and Grey placed second, ahead of Paul Roos and Affies.
Paul Roos has been the most dominant SA tennis school in the past eight years and has won the Kearsney tournament ten times.
During the mid-year holidays, 16 of Kearsney’s best tennis players will tour to England and Spain, where they will play five schools, as well as receive training at the Andres Gimeno Tennis Centre in Barcelona.
“We have a talented pool of enthusiastic young players, many in grades 9 and 10, who will benefit enormously from this experience,” Willows said.
