Banyana edge African giants
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The South African women's national team, Banyana Banyana, beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in an international friendly played at Moruleng Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
A first half goal by Crocius striker in the Portia Modise and an early goal in the second half by Mamelodi Sundowns' Sanah Mollo gave Banyana victory over a physical Ivorian outfit.
Both teams are in the final stages of preparations for the next month's African Women's Championship, which takes place in Namibia from October 11-25.
Banyana are drawn in group B together with Cameroon, Ghana and Algeria.
Ivory Coast were drawn in group A with hosts, Namibia, Nigeria and Zambia.
Banyana are set to play one more friendly before they travel to Namibia, though no announcement has been made.
