Bafana prep for Chan with win
Updated | By Staff Writer

The match was used by Bafana coach Gordon Igesund as preparation for the upcoming African Nations Championship (Chan) tournament which kicks off in the Mother City on Saturday.
The actual score-line and result was little relevance, however, as Igesund gave all of the players in his squad a run out, making regular substitutions in the game, which was played over four quarters of 30 minutes, behind closed doors.
South Africa had their fair share of chances, but lacked a cutting edge up front, with the team still looking to gel after assembling for the first time on the weekend.
The only goal of the match came around 20 minutes from the end and was scored by Kaizer Chiefs marksman Bernard Parker.
South Africa's opening game is at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, where they meet Mozambique, followed by games against Mali (January 15) and Nigeria (January 19).
