Anderson next for Wawrinka
The French Open champion beat Nick Kyrgios 6-3 6-4 on the grass surface at Queens Club on Tuesday.
Wawrinka will meet South African, Kevin Anderson, in the second round.
Grigor Dimitrov was another to secure victory at Queens on Tuesday.
The defending champion edged Sam Querrey 4-6 6-3 6-4 in his first round outing.
Bafana Bafana, meanwhile, beat Angola 2-1 in their friendly international in Cape Town on Tuesday.
The sides were level at 1-1 at the interval with Thamsanqa Gabuza equalising just before the break.
An own goal then gave Bafana victory in a match in which they enjoyed 55% of the possession.
