South Africa's national under 17 side, The Amajimbos, have failed to progress from the group stages of the Under 17 World Cup in Concepcion, Chile.
Amajimbos were left rooted to the bottom of Group E following their 2-0 loss against Russia on Monday morning.
The South African youngsters got off to the worst possible start after going behind from the penalty spot in the fifth minute.
Russia put the result beyond doubt in the 85th minute ensuring that they finish the group in top spot ahead of Costa Rica.
South Africa finished the competition with just one point in their first appearance on this stage.
An enthralling final few minutes at the Estadio Chinquihue in Puerto Montt saw Korea DPR score a 93rd-minute winner, which put the AFC champions through to the Round of 16 at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.
The result seals Korea DPR’s spot in Chile 2015’s knockout stage as one of the top third-placed sides, while Costa Rica also go through as Group E’s second-place finisher despite suffering the dramatic 2-1 defeat.
