Zuma labels white genocide claims ‘a joke’
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
uMkhonto weSizwe Party leader Jacob Zuma has dismissed recent claims made by US President Donald Trump of acts of so-called white genocide" in South Africa.

"I take it that when people talk about genocide, many people die. There's nothing of that nature in South Africa,” he said in Durban on Tuesday.
"You know my fellow [Trump], he just talks when he wants to talk. And I thought he would know better what genocide [is]. For him to say so, is just a joke, really. There's nothing of that nature."
Zuma was responding to questions at a media briefing in Umhlanga on Tuesday, following South Africa's recent diplomatic visit to the White House.
The former president, however, refused to be drawn on the subject.

Clips of Zuma chanting the 'Kill the Boer' slogan, played alongside similar videos of EFF leader Julius Malema in the Oval Office, caused a stir back home.
When asked directly about Trump's remarks, Zuma laughed them off.
"Why should I worry myself about Trump, really? We have a serious problem here to fix this country. No, I'm going to talk about that. You can tell me about something serious."
