Woolworths responds after steak, kidney and mouse pie incident
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Leading local retailer, Woolworths says they are continuing to investigate the incident where a customer found a mouse in her pie purchased at one of its Cape Town stores.
31-year-old Carmelita Pienaar, from Manenberg, took to Facebook to lay complaint - saying she found the rodent baked inside after biting into the pie purchased from an outlet on Adderley Street, Cape Town, on Monday.
Woolworths has confirmed the incident, saying they are looking into the source of the incident.
The high-end retail store says the mouse was placed after the production process.
"Following an investigation, we can confirm that the mouse was not baked into the pie at our store but was rather put in it post production. We are continuing our investigation to establish the source of the foreign object," Woolworths said in a statement.
