Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A mother who abandoned her newborn baby boy under the seat of a minibus taxi in Westville two weeks ago - is facing up to 10-years behind bars for child abandonment.
The 37-year-old woman made her first appearance briefly in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court yesterday.
She was arrested earlier this week in an informal settlement in Hillcrest - following an extensive police investigation.
Magistrate Queen Khuzwayo labelled the accused's crime as "extremely serious" - and advised her to take on legal aid, as she is facing around 10 years imprisonment.
