A 23-year-old woman has died after falling from the 6th floor of an apartment block in Umhlanga, north of Durban.
There are murmurs from residents returning home from work who're asking others what happened.
According to some, the young woman was trying to get into her flat on the sixth floor of the Manhattan Mews building.
It's believed she did not have the keys to the flat and was accessing the apartment through the window when she slipped and fell.
Paramedics were on the scene earlier but have since left. In the last hour, police have been taking statements from residents.
The body of the woman is still on the scene covered in foil as officials await forensic pathologists to arrive.
Meanwhile, the woman's flatmate has been inconsolable. At one time, she lay down next to her friend's body, crying and refusing to move.
The flatmate's parents have since arrived on the scene. The rental agent, Gus Pelser has told Newswatch that the mother of the deceased died two years ago and her father's whereabouts are unknown.
