Woman killed after bakkie crashes head-on with truck in Newcastle
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A woman has died after her bakkie collided head-on with a truck along the N11 in Sunset Rest outside of Newcastle, last night.

Details around the cause of the crash are still sketchy at this point. Various services responded to the scene along with ER24 emergency services who found that the woman had been trapped inside the wreckage.
The service's Russel Meiring says they found the woman's wrecked bakkie in the middle of the road.
"When we inspected the bakkie we found the body of the woman still trapped inside the vehicle we, upon further assessment, found the woman showed no signs of life. Unfortunately she had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries," he said.
"Nothing more could be done for her and she declared dead on the scene," Meiring said.
"The driver of the truck, however, escaped with no injuries. Local authorities were on scene for further investigations," he said.
