Woman drowns in swimming pool at Umbilo home

A woman has drowned in a pool at a home in Umbilo, south of Durban.

ALS Paramedics Medical Services says a man was stabilised at the property before he was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning.
Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says the woman, who was in her 50s, was found in a state of cardiac arrest after she was pulled from the water.

"Despite advanced life support resuscitation efforts for over half an hour, the patient did not survive and was declared deceased on the scene.
"A male believed to be in his fifties had also sustained injuries and was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby Durban hospital for the further treatment that he required."
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
