The suburb's Community Police Forum says their unofficial stats point to 47 house robberies and over 100 house breakings since October last year.

The forum's Caz Weeks says the Westville North and Berea West areas have been the hardest hit. Weeks says they want to see a greater crime prevention strategy being implemented by SAPS.

In the latest incident, an ADT response officer was shot dead at the weekend after responding to an alarm in Matapan Drive.

Weeks says this evening's meeting at Truro Hall in Meerut Road - set to get underway at 7pm - is all about making their voices heard.

"It's about getting our voices heard and letting people know what's really happening in this area and to try and get some sort of commitment in getting the numbers at the Westville police station involved and to get some strategies in place so we can feel safe going forward," he said.

Police say they've increased visibility and patrols in Westville. Officers say any suspicious activities must be reported immediately.
