Life Westville Hospital cardiologist facing malpractice complaint
Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
The Health Professions Council of South Africa says an investigation into alleged malpractice by a Durban doctor is at an advanced stage.

Several patients of Dr Ntando Duze have lodged complaints against him with the council.
Duze is a specialist cardiologist at Life Westville Hospital.
He is accused of performing harmful and invasive surgical procedures, including inserting stents in patients who deemed the procedure “unnecessary”.
It's been reported that at least six patients have formally complained.

Last week, the KZN High Court in Pietermaritzburg dismissed Duze's bid to stop the broadcast of a Carte Blanche programme about him which aired on Sunday night.
The Health Professions Council of South Africa says it takes allegations against health professionals seriously.
In a statement to Newswatch, Life Healthcare's Chief Medical Officer Dr Karisha Quarie says an internal review into the allegations is underway.
She says they'll take any necessary actions based on the outcomes of their investigation.
