Weekend lectures on the cards for DUT
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Weekend lectures will be introduced at the Durban University of Technology to make up for lost time.
This after a number of faculties had their academic calendars revised.
They have been restructured to accommodate the loss of eight weeks of learning as a result of a wage dispute between staff and management.
DUT's Alan Khan says they have enrolled 24,000 students for the year.
He says the registration window will close soon so staff can focus on the academic programme.
"We are still taking in registrations, especially to accommodate those students who may have been inconvenienced by the staff strike. We also realise at some point it is going to be a challenge, because if someone registers in the middle of May, it is going to be difficult for them to catch up," he said.
Labour unions and management have agreed to a seven percent salary increase.
