WATCH: World youth event adopts Durban produced song
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
An originally compiled tune, composed by two local musicians, has been officially adopted for Mini World Youth Day 2017.
Mini World Youth Day, which will attract youngsters from neighbouring African countries, will be held in Durban on December 6 – 10.
The Mighty One was written and performed by Durban's own, Justin Nanak and Thandeka Dube-Ndhlovu.
Growing up in KZN, both Nanak and Dube-Ndhlou were introduced to music and the performance arts at a young age.
Produced by creative director, Karen Van Pletsen - the musicians have meshed three languages - English, isiZulu and Sign language in the song and music video.
It features appearances from The Durban Gospel Choir and contemporary community groups, Saint France Xavier, St Joseph, and Blessed Sacrement Parishes.
The event forms part of a global build-up to World Youth Day - which will be held in Panama in 2019.
