WATCH: Massive sinkhole, flooded roads cause havoc on Durban roads
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A large sinkhole has opened up in Morningside after Thursday night's heavy downpours.
Durban Metro police say the sinkhole, which formed on Earl Haig Road, trapped a minibus taxi on Friday morning.
Spokesperson Boysie Zungu advised motorists to be careful when using that road, as it appears to have been badly damaged in the storm.
"We are advising motorists to be careful when they are driving around that road or use alternative roads to avoid accidents."
That's just one of many roads affected by the torrential downpour.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says they have attended a number of incidents involving waterlogged routes.
"The common areas currently are the M4 southern freeway near the Quality Street bridge, as well as the M4 south just after the Victoria embankment south on-ramp. Water is pooling on the left-hand side and cars are getting stuck and damaged in that water.
"Paramedics have also found that in Pinetown on the M13 eastbound at St John's off-ramp, there is a pool of water that could also damage your vehicle quite badly as well as Old Main Road in Anderson Road near the taxi rank as you exit Pinetown towards Westmead."
He says motorists travelling on the M19 and Fields Hill should be vigilant as it is dangerous in the rain.
