Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A knife-wielding man - who's also an alleged woman-beater - has spent the night in jail following a dispute with authorities in Durban, yesterday.
Dramatic scenes (that were caught on video) unfolded in the city, when the man became aggressive with police and Metro officers.
In the video that's since gone viral on social media, a man can be seen running after Metro officers with a knife in his hand - at the intersection of Sandile Thusi Road and Stalwart Simelane Street (formerly Argyle and Stanger.)
SAPS then show up.

Spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele says the man was allegedly seen assaulting his girlfriend while still in their vehicle.
She says Metro officers - who had been driving past at that time - tried to intervene.
"They tried to intervene. Very soon the boyfriend came out from the car with a knife and was aggressive to the Metro Police. They [Metro] called for the SAPS and backup, and on arrival the suspect was arrested for possession of dangerous weapon. He is appearing in the Durban Magistrate's Court today," she said.
