WATCH: Armed robbers strike Ballito jewellery store

Police say a group of men stormed a store at the Ballito Junction Regional Mall, an hour after the centre had opened.

Several shots were fired and suspects made away with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.

Police's Nqobile Gwala says a case of robbery has been opened for investigation at Umhlali police.

"This morning the employees were fulfilling their duties at the store, where they were accosted by a group of unknown men." 

"At gunpoint, the suspects broke the windows and took an undisclosed amount of jewellery and fled the scene in an unknown direction." she says. 

This is the third incident of business robbery at a jewellery store in the KwaZulu-Natal in the space of the last four months.

Two weeks ago a similar incident occurred at Durban's Gateway Theatre of Shopping mall where shots were fired, and suspects made off with jewellery and other items.
