Around 200 pilots represented by Solidarity have been on strike since Monday, following a breakdown in wage negotiations.

While FlySafair has offered a multi-year 5.7% wage increase, the union is holding out for a 10.5% hike along with improved working conditions.

The airline and the union have reported positive progress, but they were unable to conclude all outstanding matters within the available time on Friday.

Both parties have decided for negotiations to continue on Saturday.

Meanwhile, FlySafair continues to operate at a stable but reduced flight schedule.

The airline reports that close to two-thirds of its pilots have returned to duty, and the current schedule has been right-sized to ensure it remains sustainable with the available crew.

"The parties continue to engage in good faith as they work through the complex details of the matters at hand. We remain hopeful for a resolution soon," said Kirby Gordon, FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer
