Veteran news anchor Riaan Cruywagen turns 70
Well wishes have been pouring in on social media for veteran Afrikaans news anchor, Riaan Cruywagen as he celebrated his 70th birthday.
Fans and friends have taken to Twitter to send Riaan Cruywagen birthday wishes as he turned 70 yesterday.
Cruywagen read his last news bulletin on SABC Afrikaans news programme in November 2012, marking 37 years on broadcast television.
It is reported that he is the longest serving news reader in the country.
The veteran is also an author of an autobiography, Wats Nuus.
Given his popularity, Cruywagen has spawned many internet memes and has starred in a music video, Beige Ford Cortina.
