Vehicle in Mandela Howick arrest unveiled

Cogta MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube has unveiled a replica of the 1962 Austin Westminster - Nelson Mandela had been travelling on the day of his arrest, exactly 56 years ago yesterday.

The occasion was commemorated at the capture site, near Howick in the Midlands.
Mandela was arrested for leaving the country without a passport and calling on workers to strike.
He went on to serve 27 years in prison before eventually being released in 1990.

Government - along with Mandela's grandson, Mandla Mandela - visited the capture site yesterday.
"The car that was unveiled, is going to stay at the museum - at the Capture Site. Every South African that holds Madiba in such high esteem will have the opportunity to marvel at that car," Cogta spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela said.

Mayisela says they hope the car will attract more tourists to the site.
