Vaccine manufacturing campus launched in Cape Town

A vaccine manufacturing campus has officially been launched in Brackenfell in Cape Town.
The NantSA campus at Brackengate was officially opened by President Cyril Ramaphosa a short while ago.
NantSA is part of the multinational conglomerate NantWorks, founded by South African born businessman Dr Patrick Soon-Shiong.
Ramaphosa says the initiative aims to address vaccine inequality highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"When the western world was holding those vaccines and when they ordered so many more billions of vaccines that they were not using and not making available to our countries.”

"We want to a build a cancer centre for people with cervical cancer, Burkitt Lymphoma HIV, TB. These kinds of cancers are no concern to the western world but are really of concern to Africa. This is already happening, we have closed on this building and this will be happening in Johannesburg."
