Uyinene's brother: I should have been there to protect you

The brother of murdered UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana says he cannot forgive himself for not being there to protect his little sister.

Esona Mrwetyana paid tribute to 19-year-old ‘Nene’ at her funeral yesterday. She was raped and murdered allegedly by a post office employee after she had gone to collect a parcel.
Esona says he wants his sister to be remembered as a fighter.

"The one thing I want you to be remembered for is that the fact that till your last breath you were fighting," he said.
"I am sorry that I was no there to fight for you. I am so proud of you and your fight is now our fight," Mrewetyana said.
Nene’s murder triggered mass protests in the country and calls for more action against sexual and gender-based violence.
