US teen arrested for Pedrie Wannenburg car crash

Police in Texas have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the death of former Springbok rugby player Pedrie Wannenburg.

He died in Austin when a vehicle fleeing police crashed into the back of the one driven by the 41-year-old rugby player and coach.
The Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the arrest of the teenager on Sunday.
He has been charged with felony murder, reckless and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
His two young children and wife were in the car at the time of the accident.
Gonzalez said Wannenburg's 8-year-old son Francois is in critical condition in hospital while his 10-year-old sister Isabelle and wife Evette escaped serious injuries.
Wannenburg moved to the United States six years ago. He worked in the refrigeration industry and also coached the West Houston Lions.
