UN to assess flood-hit KZN
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Officials from the United Nations are headed to flood-hit KZN to survey the damage and provide support.
The UN's Zeenat Abdool says a South African technical team will this week meet with disaster management officials in eThekwini.
The floods in the province have left at least 430 people dead and thousands destitute.
Damage to infrastructure is estimated to run into the billions of rands.

"A technical team will meet with the provincial disaster management centre and the eThekwini Municipality to assess the areas of support by the United Nations Development System,” says Abdool.
“The United Nations in South Africa has been supporting the province following the floods in 2019 and the civil unrest of 2021 and will continue to support rebuilding efforts to ensure that no one is left behind."
